"DA DA DA DA DA DA DA"

Lucas' new favorite thing to say.. "da da da da da" :) It's super cute.. we know that he can't put 2 and 2 together yet but it still puts a big smile on Daddy's face. :)

5 MONTHS

Wow, 4 months came and went with a blink of an eye..
This leads me to mixed emotions... On the one hand, I LOVE seeing him grow and develop into the mind blowingly adorable person that he is... seeing him learn new things everyday and praising all of his little (but huge) accomplishments is truly the highlight of my life.. On the other hand, I'm SAD it's going by so fast!!! Can't we just press pause on this growing up thing??? It just reminds me to stop and enjoy EVERY SINGLE second.

POO:30

I could only imagine how the conversation began but when Doug and I were dating he told me about this roommate he used to have (I won't name any names) that would come home in the afternoon every day at the EXACT same time to go number 2, or as I call it these days, poopy. Eventually this special time came to be called "poo:30" or "poo o'clock." It was an ongoing joke that he would be home between poo and poo:30 to claim his place on the thrown. I don't even know that the roommate new about this nickname for his special time but regardless, I thought it was pretty funny.  Even funnier when Doug's telling about it.  Well recently I was reminded of poo:30 as I was feeding Lucas his dinner.  I realized that for the last 3 or 4 evenings EVERY time we sit down for dinner and get him settled in his highchair, he takes 2 or 3 bites of food and then takes an intermission while his butt explodes... I'm holding back giving the details but it reminds me of a scene in Along Came Polly, although he's at the dinner table and I just took a bite of food. Talk about an inconvenient time for poo:30.

I tried to capture the moment tonight (what proud mom doesn't like to show off her sons poo face??) but this is all I got...

This is not the official poo face (which involves him going slightly crosseyed and turning up his lips) but as you can see from the veins about to burst from his forehead...he was still doing some damage.. I think he was using Sophie as leverage.

Proud of his work.. and happy that he now has room in his tummy to finish his dinner

Got sick of the peas so took a break to eat his Giraffe

Total food coma.  I bet he wishes he could poo again at this point..

Finished strong with a second wind... mmmmmm.... peas. :)

WHO IS THAT?

Whenever Lucas is playing on his activity mat he scoots all the way up to the little mirror to the point where his face is actually touching it... and he just admires himself.  It's pretty funny.

WEDNESDAYS...

Wednesdays cannot come quick enough. It is a day that I look forward to starting on Monday. It's the one day during the work week that I get to spend with Lucas while I work from home.  Although this Wednesday wasn't the bliss I had anticipated.  Lucas was a jerk.. a cute jerk.. but still a jerk. He refused to take a nap. Actually, I lie, he took one 30 minute nap and one 15 minute nap.  So from the time he woke up (5am) until the time I put him to bed (8pm), the cute little jerk only slept 45 minutes. If this was any other day (weekend I guess) I would have GLADLY embraced his spunk for the day. BUT today is Wednesday and I had to work.  This made it extemely difficult when he refused to let me put him down and would not sleep for all the breastmilk in the world. If he got drowsy enough to where I thought there was a slight chance he would actually fall asleep, I would practically hold my breath, terrified that I would make a noise to distract him from drifting into slumber. As you already know, this did not work. Instead he sat on my lap almost all day, gumming the computer cords while I worked.

It's funny, today was the first day that I got a glimpse of some brattiness.. I knew it was coming since I was hell on wheels as a young child (specifically in the tantrum department) but I must say I was a little surprised to see it so early. His cries were more like yells today and when I tried to put him down for a mili-second he would get angry and actually swat at me! LOL. I can laugh now...
