MY FIRST EASTER!

Lucas had a great first Easter!! It didn't really start out as planned though! He hadn't been feeling well the few days before so when he went down for a nap at 8am and wasn't awake by 10am to get ready for church I didn't dare wake him!!  He NEVER naps longer than 30 minutes so I knew he really needed it.. So once he finally did wake up (3 hours later!!) we did a mini photo shoot and then headed over to Jeff and Melissa's for Easter dinner and an egg hunt. The food was wonderful and the company was great! Here are some pics:

CALIFORNIA TRIP

We took Lucas on his first road trip to California the 2nd week in April. He did AMAZING on the car ride there and back and barely cried at all (only when his ears were popping).. I could not WAIT to introduce him to the family and for him to see Grandma again.. it had been too long!! Now that we know that he does well with long car rides we are going to try to make more frequent visits! It is just so hard being away from Grandma...  Here are some pics :)

SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT

This past week marked a pretty awesome milestone... SLEEP!!! Lucas started sleeping in 6 hour blocks several weeks ago which then turned into 7 hours and then 8 hours and now for the past few nights he has slept 9.5 and 10 hours!!! To be honest, I was worried this day would never come but alas it is here. I'm actually scared to be sharing this right now because I'm afraid I will jinx it and he might revert to 4 hour sleeping blocks.. but I had to share because it might just be my favorite milestone yet! But with every positive comes a negative I guess because since I'm nursing my tatas haven't yet received the memo that Lucas will not be eating throughout the night... which means when I wake up I look like Dolly Parton and am in SERIOUS pain. I swear this morning I almost cried.. but supposedly as he continues to sleep in long stretches my body will start to regulate around his schedule.. thank goodness! Anyway, YAY for sleep!!!!

2 MONTHS!

March 26th marked 2 months. I can NOT believe how fast our sweet baby is growing. At his 2 month doctor appointment he weighted in at a wopping 14 lbs and 23 1/2 inches (95th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height). He is entering such a fun stage and has become remarkably interactive.  He smiles all the time, laughs and talks soooooo much.  He loves to babble and says a wide variety of goos, gahs and much more. I don't know if I'm going to technically count it as his first word but the morning of the 26th I walked into his room while he was happily babbling to his mobile and I watched him say "HI" to one of his little mobile friends. It was such a clear distinct "HI" and wasn't jumbled with a bunch of other babble. It was the cutest thing ever!!  I don't know - what do you think???  We probably say hi to him more than any other word so I'm not too surprised!  I guess I don't know if I should count it or not because he's so young. But then again he seems to be developing sooo fast!  Which according to my 2nd bible (aka "What to Expect the First Year) his advanced nature might be attributed to him being such an active baby. I was reading about the Second Month and came to the page "Do You Have a Challenging Baby?" The very first baby described was titled "The active baby." It described Lucas to a T and read as follows: "Babies often send the first clue that they're going to be more active than most right from the uterus; suspicions are confirmed soon after birth when receiving blankets are kicked off, diapering and dressing sessions become wrestling matches, and baby always ends up at the opposite end of the crib after a nap. Active babies are a constant challenge (they sleep less than most, become restless when feeding, can be extremely frustrated until they're able to be independently mobile, and are alwasy at risk of hurting themselves), but they can also be a joy (they're usually very alert, interested and interesting, and quick to accomplish)." This is definitely Lucas.  He can not sit still for a minute and just seems very irritated that he can't run around yet!  He has been standing (we just keep him steady so he doesn't fall over) since he was about 1 month.. I swear I keep waiting for him to just pop up and take off.. hahaha!  At least we got the pool fenced this week! Here are a few pictures of our sweek little guy at 2 months:

VISITORS!

It just so happened that my Janelly and my sis Haley and her boyfriend Mack all came to visit us the same week! It was soooo great to introduce Lucas to his aunties!! Not only was it awesome to see Janell but she was such a great help while she was here!! She watched Lucas while Doug and I went on our first post baby date and also while I treated myself to a salon visit.. she also helped get us out of the house several days and was just an awesome extra set of hands. I was very very sad to see her go and cried like a baby when she left. :(  It was also soo great seeing my sis and meeting her boyfriend Mack. I hadn't seen her since last year so it was a much needed visit. They stayed pretty busy with spring training games and exploring the city so my only regret is not getting enough time with them! BUT they plan to come back this summer so Lucas and I will get to hog them when they do. :)  Here are a few pics from the visit and beyond... (I am soooo sad I don't have more pics with the aunties.. but Janell is sending me some from her camera so those will follow)
